bauma 2001: Bigger and more international

bauma is further expanding its position as world leader. The level of registrations so far received from industry indicates that the next bauma will be a truly superlative event. And, in view of the anticipated large numbers of visitors and exhibitors, the opening times are being changed to spread the load on transport and traffic. On the seven days of the fair, trade visitors from all over the world will be taking a look at a unique display of building and construction machinery, building materials machines, construction vehicles and equipment and tools. bauma will once again confirm its global status as the leading fair in the sector.

In 1998, when bauma was held for the 25th time, this world fair celebrated a glittering premiere at the new trade fair centre in Munich-Riem. At this double celebration several new records were made. Visitors numbered over 380,000, the highest so far; they came from all over the world to Munich to find out about the ranges of goods and services displayed by 1,993 exhibitors and 220 additionally represented companies. Almost all the exhibitors (99 percent) gave a very positive assessment of their participation in the fair, and mentioned in particular the importance of bauma as a leading fair in the sector. The new trade fair centre, which had then only been open just two months, was also praised by 87 percent of exhibitors, who gave it the top rating of "excellent to good".

Since then the new trade fair centre has been further expanded and new facilities added: bauma 2001 will have the use of the International Congress Centre (ICM) which was officially inaugurated in October 1998, and also two new trade-fair halls (C1 and C2). This means 20,000 more square metres of hall space for exhibitors on which to create their visions for even better presentations.
