American Technical Ceramics Corp. begins shipping new 600S Ultra-low ESR Microwave Capacitors

American Technical Ceramics Corp., a leading manufacturer of ceramic RF and microwave components, has announced that it has begun shipping its new 600 Series capacitor to customer's volume requirements. The 600S capacitor product, developed with ATC's 34 years of expertise in RF and microwave technologies, employs a new, proprietary dielectric formulation and an enhanced internal electrode structure. This combination of technological advancements makes the 600S an excellent candidate for myriad RF and microwave wireless applications. For example, when used in conjunction with wireless communications systems, the 600S exhibits outstanding performance advantages over other capacitor products in its class. The 600S optimizes signal integrity and reliability by reducing radio frequency circuit losses thereby enhancing overall system efficiency and performance.

Victor Insetta, Chairman of the Company, stated that "As the wireless industry continues its rapid expansion, American Technical Ceramics is committed to continuing to provide new standards for quality and design of capacitors, creating unique value for our customers. After two years in development, the 600S is now being tested and evaluated by our customers, a critical step in the design-in process that new components must undergo. We are confident that the unique benefits and performance of the 600S will make it the new standard for engineers designing wireless base stations and a strong complement to ATC's current capacitor lines."

The 600S, the first of a series of new capacitors specifically designed by ATC for high-volume wireless infrastructure markets, has both the lowest Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and highest working voltage in its class, allowing it to provide a new level of amplifier power added efficiency (PAE) circuit performance in a readily usable and compact size and shape. First introduced at the Wireless Symposium and Exhibition in February, the 600S marks ATC's continuing role as a premier player in this fast-growing segment of the communications market. In addition to topping the industry's ESR standards, its efficiency and superior thermal conducting properties allow it to run much cooler at high signal power levels typical of amplifier applications.

The 600S is the first of a series of products planned to be manufactured in ATC's Jacksonville "Factory of the Future" utilizing a new generation of high-performance materials, using processes and equipment specifically developed for economical high-volume production.
