Russian Sanitaryware Plant to Double Capacity
Russian manufacturer ZAO Syzranskaya Keramika will soon reach a production capacity of 1 million pieces per annum.
The start-up of the ZAO Syzranskaya Keramika sanitaryware production plant (located at Syzran, in the Samara region), a company belonging to the SOK Group, was officially completed on 21 June 2007.
As start-ups go, this was described as a spectacularly rapid one that fully satisfied both SOK and the supplier, Sacmi (Imola, BO , Italy). Shipped in September 2006, the machines were assembled, started up and running at full output capacity in less than nine months.
The plant is the very first in Russia to produce sanitaryware using high pressure machines and resin moulds only. Moreover, the glazing department consists entirely of robotised glazing systems. This underlines SOK’s intention to have a cutting-edge production facility that allows them to offer the market products of a quality well above average for those produced in Russia.
Sacmi says that the plant is doubtlessly the most modern and comprehensive built in Russia to date and is likely to remain the jewel in the crown, for both SOK and Sacmi, for years to come.
Given this success an agreement to double the output capacity of the plant - which currently produces 500,000 pieces a year with two sets of models – has already been reached. The machines for this doubling of capacity have just been supplied by Sacmi and full productivity - 1 million pieces a year with four complete production sets - is expected to be achieved by the end of the year. All the articles produced comply with EU standards and can therefore be exported to the European market too.
Sacmi has acted as SOK’s technical and technological partner, completing the plant by providing know-how regarding bodies and glazes that employ Russian raw materials, providing modelling development services and technical/technological training for the customer’s personnel.
SOK is already a Sacmi partner for the production of porcelain tiles and has a tile output capacity of 7 million pcs.
