Turkey's Yurtbay Seramik Aims at Technical Porcelain Tiles

A new, important name has been added to the client list of LB Officine Meccaniche SpA (Fiorano Modenese, MO, Italy), contributing to the consolidation of the already massive presence of the LB brand in Turkey. Yurtbay Seramik, a company well known for the production of wall and floor tiles, has turned to LB to install a new manufacturing line devoted to technical porcelain tiles; an innovative and major choice for the Turkish company which presently boasts an annual manufacturing capacity higher than 13 million square metres in single-firing and nearly 5 million square metres of glazed porcelain tiles.

The strategic decision to increase porcelain tiles production, aiming at a superior product quality without giving up a high manufacturing capacity, has led the Turkish ceramic group to select LB technology. The new manufacturing line designed for Yurtbay is made up of two technological towers, fitted with 'Easy Color system' dry colouring systems and sophisticated technologies to manage ceramic powders, serving a special Croma 175 feeder that can manage spray-dried, micronised powders and flakes with extreme flexibility.

In this first approach to technical porcelain tiles, LB says that the Easy Color system represents the most advanced solution for dry colouring of ceramic powders because it allows a perfectly uniform colouring of grains, without modifying in the least their physical characteristics. To colour powders with the dry process means to pass quickly from one colour production to another one and to increase the manufacturing yield, drastically limiting also the number of storage silos. Nowadays, adds LB, the Croma series multi-layer feeder is the only press feeding system that can combine great aesthetic results with a absolute manufacturing flexibility and simple plant management.

The new LB line is being prepared for delivery and will enter production at full capacity with sizes 60cm x 60cm and 60cm x 120cm from the second half of 2010. The products made will be marketed in the whole Turkish market where Yurtbay Seramik cooperates with several dealers in the areas of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Antalya, Adana and Samsun - and all over the world, thanks to a commercial network that exports in more than 60 countries, such as the USA, Canada, Europe, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Syria, Georgia and Lebanon.
