Wienerberger and Baggeridge Announce Official Integration

Wienerberger, the world’s largest brick manufacturer, has recently completed the acquisition of Baggeridge Brick creating one of the largest brick manufacturers in the UK.  Wienerberger has had a strong presence in the UK for many years promoting their Terca brand of clay facing bricks and the acquisition of Baggeridge, one of the UK’s best known brick companies, further enhances their place as a major force in the UK brick industry.

The head office has been consolidated to Wienerberger’s current operation in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, and the UK board now sees a blend of Wienerberger and Baggeridge directors, with Alan Baxter, former chief executive of Baggeridge, becoming CEO of the new company.

The integration will bring a number of benefits to customers. Fourteen manufacturing sites and two distribution depots around the UK will mean quicker and more efficient deliveries as well as making Wienerberger a local supplier on a national scale.  The combined product range is also outstanding with a huge range of facing bricks, market leading blue bricks and class B engineering bricks, and an almost unlimited range of special shaped bricks. But it’s not just the bricks that make the Wienerberger portfolio so impressive.  The company now has a wide range of pavers, an extensive range of clay roof tiles promoted under the Koramic brand, as well as two cladding systems – Corium and ArGeTon.

Alan Baxter, CEO of Wienerberger UK, comments: “2008 is sure to be an exciting year for Wienerberger and we are now ready to move forward as one company. Wienerberger and Baggeridge complement each other perfectly and we are now able to offer our customers a lot more in terms of choice and availability.”

Alan continues: “Sustainability will be a key focus for the enlarged company and the principles of environmental best practice are embraced by everyone throughout each of our manufacturing locations. Care for the environment is at the heart of our business and we remain committed to reducing our carbon footprint for the benefit of future generations.”
