Low-Cost Version of Wet-Diamond Plate Base Polishing

With its newly developed wet-diamond belt polishing process, Lippert (Pressath, Germany) says it has set new smoothness of finish standards for the polishing of plate, bowl and cup bases and also cup rims.

To supplement the company's successful range of rotary table polishing machines, Lippert has engineered a new, low-cost version of its wet-diamond polishing machine in the form of a single pass unit (patent pending).

Using this plant, the plate or bowl is placed upside down on a non-slip pad. The abrasive belts turning on the polishing spindles descend on to the stationary plate. A simple conveyor belt system ensures proper indexing through the linear machine.

The machine itself comprises a feed point, an indexing belt with integrated rim-centering mechanism, three grinding spindles with automatic vertical shut-off and integrated step advance for the abrasive belt, two blow-off stations, a splash guard and a take-off point. Optional accessories include a buffer plus drip belt and a washing machine.

Setting up the machine consists solely of entering the diameter of the plate.
