Sri Lanka Ceramics Symposium

The Sri Lankan ceramic industry is built on a long traditional history with around 30 principal ceramic companies in operation. These companies produce items such as tableware, ornamental artware, and wall and floor tiles. The Third Ceramics Symposium, which will take place from 10-11 June 2006 at the TransAsia Hotel in Colombo, is intended to act as a forum for dialogue between local companies and international ceramic industry professionals. Previous symposia were held in 2002 and 2004 with over 140 local and foreign participants.

The target topics of the symposium are:

1 Global trends in the ceramic industry.
2 Enabling policy environment for the growth of the ceramic industry.
3 Managing energy costs.
4 Advanced ceramics - ceramics of the future.
5 Opportunities for the ceramic industry in Sri Lanka.
6 New technologies shaping the ceramic industry.
7 Scientific research conducted cooperation between institutions and industry.
8 Any other topic related to the ceramic industry.

The aim is to present and disseminate information on latest technology and trends in the global and local ceramic industries and to acquire the support of foreign and local presenters for knowledge sharing sessions and to act as a forum for dialogue between local and international ceramic industry professionals.
