Siam Cement Annual Results


The Siam Cement Group (SCG - Bangkok, Thailand) has announced a record operating performance for 2004, citing strong performance in most of the strategic business units, particularly in the Petrochemicals Business. Moreover, the company plans to propose a full year 2004 dividend payment of 15 baht per share.

The total sales figure of 192.395 billion baht represented a 29% increase, while the operating profit before extraordinary items was 33.707 billion baht - an increase of 89% compared to the previous year. Net profit grew by 83% from 2003 to reach a record 36.483 billion baht.

In 2004, the Building Products Business recorded total sales of 20.542 billion baht, an increase of 13% as the result of strong sales volume of roofing products and ceramic tiles nationwide. Similarly, the Distribution Business recorded total sales of 68.558 billion baht, an increase of 21% from 2003 on rising demand for building materials for the residential housing construction sector.

In the light of the company's much improved financial position and operating performance for the full year 2004, the board of directors of The Siam Cement Public Co Ltd has requested for approval, at the ordinary general meeting of shareholders on 23 March 2005, a full year 2004 dividend payment of 15 baht per share. Earlier, on 26 August 2004, the company paid an interim dividend of 5.5 baht per share and will pay an additional year-end 2004 dividend of 9.5 baht on 19 April 2005 to the shareholders listed in the share register book closed for share transfer on 7 April 2005.
