Sacmi in Moscow

The Ceramics & Tiles and Whiteware divisions of Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy) recently participated in the Moscow-held convention on the future of the Russian ceramic industry, the aim being to meet the challenges presented by 'The Evolution of Production in the Ceramic Tile Industry' and 'High Pressure Casting of WC Bowls'.

The event, which was organised by the Chamber of Commerce Committee, the Technical-Economic and Marketing Research Office for the Construction Industry (Vniiesm), the Federal Construction Agency and the Russian Builders' Union, took place during the 4th staging of the Strojprogress fair/Casa Moderna trade fair.

Matters such as the potential of the Russian ceramic industry to cope with growth in residential construction, raw materials for the production of tiles and sanitaryware, and the merits of Russian-built and imported machines were all discussed.

The Sacmi team gave talks on new technologies for the production of porcelain and extruded tiles, two products which are in great demand on the Russian market, especially larger sizes for outdoor settings, trims and items with low water absorption. Sacmi's response is based on the supply of cutting-edge production processes which marry extrusion with the very latest production technology.
