Resco Acquires Refco Inc.

Resco Products Inc (Pittsburgh, PA, USA) has acquired the stock of Refco Inc from the Estate of John F. Johnson. Refco's company headquarters is in Pittsburgh and its operating plant is in Wellston, OH, USA. Refco manufactures clay-alumina monolithics and pre-cast shapes for a wide variety of applications in both steel and non-steel industries.

William Brown, Resco's President and CEO, stated: "Resco is pleased to complete this transaction and intends to carry on the tradition of dedicated customer service established by the late Johnny Johnson when he formed the Refco and Tradesman companies in the early '80's." Resco will continue to operate the Wellston plant which includes one of the premier pre-cast facilities in North America."

"The Refco transaction, coupled with the New Castle Refractories acquisition announced on December 1st, results in significantly expanded product lines and new customers and markets for Resco", he further stated. "There will be increased opportunities for the various stakeholders of the company in the future."
