Panzani Elected Chairman of CET

The European Ceramic Tile Manufacturers' Federation (CET) has elected Alfonso Panzani – who currently heads up the Ceramiche Ricchetti Group – as its Chairman for the three-year period from 2010–2012. Mr Panzani is Past President of Confindustria Ceramica and is only the the third Italian to hold the CET chairmanship, after Antonio Orienti and Oscar Zannoni.

Mr Panzani has a degree in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Modena and has hitherto held an impressive list of positions within a number of bodies. First elected as a member of the Executive Board of Assopiastrelle in 1986, he served as Chairman from 2005–2009; during this period he took the Association into Confindustria Ceramica, the body that brings together manufacturers of ceramics, refractory materials, ceramic sanitaryware, tableware and technical ceramics.

He has also been the Chairman since the foundation of Gas Intensive, a multi-sector consortium for the purchase of methane gas, and has previously been a member of the Board of Directors of Cer-Energia and Cofim, as well as a member of the Board of the CFI, the Confindustria body that brings together associations of trade fair events organisers.

The Ceramiche Ricchetti Group, the first Italian ceramics company to be listed on the Stock Exchange (in 1995), is a multinational company that ended 2008 with a turnover of €240.6 million. It It has 15 facilities, in Italy, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Portugal, and employs 1950 people.
