Morgan Advanced Ceramics Product Aids Neurostimulation Devices

Morgan Advanced Ceramics (MAC) now offers custom designed ceramic feed-thrus for implantable neurostimulation devices.

Manufactured by the company's Alberox Products Division, these hermetic feed-thrus are comprised of 100% biocompatible, corrosion resistant materials, making them ideal for use in neurostimulators. Transmitting voltages from the device's power supply to a single or dual channel lead delivery system, these feed-thrus aid in the interruption of pain signals to the brain through the release of electrical stimulation to the spinal cord or peripheral nerve.

Morgan Advanced Ceramics' innovative ceramic-to-metal seal assemblies are said to offer a more robust bond and higher reliability than traditional glass seals. The superior electrical properties of the alumina ceramic and MAC's application engineering expertise allow for the development of smaller, custom designed feed-thrus.

MAC provides custom design engineering support from concept to production, meeting the unique specifications of medical device manufacturers. This design flexibility, explains the company, allows for cost competitive manufacturing through a consistent, repeatable manufacturing process.

In addition to neurostimulation devices, feed-thrus are also offered for cochlear implants, pacemakers, defibrillators, bone growth stimulators and drug delivery devices.
