Long Life Sizing Nozzle Certificated in China as High-Tech Product
LIRR - Luoyang Institute of Refractories Research (Luoyang, Henan, China) reports that its long life sizing nozzle has been certificated as a high-new technology product of Henan Province by the Science & Technology Bureau of Henan Province.
The sizing nozzle is used in non-stopper casting systems of tundish for small billet casting and is described as a functional refractory used for controlling the flow of molten steel poured into the mould and for stabilising the casting speed. This requires the nozzle to have excellent erosion and thermal shock resistance and to exhibit no clogging, no spalling, no cracking and no size enlargement.
The sizing nozzle developed by LIRR is said to exhibit good thermal shock and erosion resistance, little size enlargement and longer service life. The longest service life in Beijing Capital Iron & Steel Co was 930 minutes, which exceeded the domestic product of the same kind by a margin of between 30% and 50%.
