Personnel Change in HeidelbergCement’s Supervisory Board

Following an application by the company, the Local Court (Amtsgericht) of Mannheim, Germany has supplemented the Supervisory Board of HeidelbergCement AG and appointed Dr-Ing Herbert Lütkestratkötter and Alan Murray as members of the Supervisory Board to represent the shareholders. They will replace the former Supervisory Board members Eduard Schleicher and Gerhard Hirth, who resigned from their positions at the end of 2009 in response to the changes in the shareholder structure of HeidelbergCement. Their terms of appointment will expire on occasion of the by-election held at the next Annual General Meeting of HeidelbergCement AG on 6 May 2010.

"We are delighted that we have been able to win over two experienced and highly competent new members in Dr-Ing Lütkestratkötter and Mr Murray for our Supervisory Board," stated Dr Bernd Scheifele, Chairman of the Managing Board of HeidelbergCement AG. "The changed composition of the Supervisory Board clearly reflects the new role of HeidelbergCement as a public company with an international shareholder base."

Dr-Ing Lütkestratkötter has been Chairman of the Executive Board of HOCHTIEF Aktiengesellschaft, (Essen, Germany) since April 2007. Before that time, he took responsibility, amongst others, for international operations at Philipp Holzmann AG and acted as Labour Relations Director there. Furthermore he was a member of the Executive Board of Lahmeyer Aktiengesellschaft. He has a wide range of experience in the international engineering, construction and services business.

Alan Murray had been a member of the Managing Board of HeidelbergCement AG until December 2008 and significantly contributed to the successful integration of the Hanson Group. Prior to his resignation from the Managing Board, he was responsible for HeidelbergCement's North America business activities. Until the completion of the Hanson takeover in August 2007, Alan Murray served as Chief Executive of Hanson PLC.
