Forum seeks top ceramic engineers

Top level Ceramic Engineers are being recruited as part of a drive to improve the competitiveness of ceramic businesses in the North Staffordshire ('Potteries') region of the UK. The engineers are being recruited by the recently established Ceramic Industry Forum to help companies make a host of improvements throughout their businesses. The engineers will lead the Ceramic Industry Forum MasterClass Programme, an intensive 15-day programme that benchmarks company performance and identifies sustainable improvements. The engineers will work alongside company employees during the process and share best practice from the ceramics and other manufacturing sectors.

A similar process run for the automotive industry in the West Midlands resulted in a 41% improvement in productivity, a reduction in downtime of 37% and an increase in value added per person of 35%.

Sue Evans, Chief Executive of the Ceramic Industry Forum, said: "These appointments are central to the success of the Industry Forum. The people we are looking to recruit will not only need to be excellent engineers but also capable of influencing others and working with local companies to make a real and lasting difference to their performance.

"The emphasis on the MasterClass programme is about helping companies to identify where and how they can make improvements rather than simply telling them. The engineers will be central to this learning process".

The closing date for applications is 23 January 2001. To find out more, e-mail the recruiting consultant (consult@jonlee.co.uk) or visit the web site: http://www.jonlee.co.uk/ceramic/
