New supply exhibition will cover ceramic & glass sectors

EXPONOR, the Oporto International Fair organisation in Portugal, has just announced that it will stage from 7-10 November 2001 the newly conceived INTERMAQUINA: The 1st International Fair of Machinery and Equipment for Ornamental Stone, Pottery & Glass.

EXPONOR has decided to put together this event for a variety of reasons, amongst them the non-existence of a fair with the same aims at a national level and what it identifies as the strong synergy between the chosen sectors (covering products of rock/stone/glass/ceramic). Demand in Portugal in these areas is said to be high.

Tiles and ornamental stone, in particular, are said by EXPONOR to be "a true visiting card of our country. Portugal is the 8th biggest producer and exporter in the world of this raw material".

The ceramic industry in Portugal is now said to employ more than 35,000 people and contributes massively to the positive external trade balance. The organisers promise a strong national and international promotional campaign to capture both exhibitors and visitors for the first INTERMAQUINA.
