Four-Storey Press from Erie Shipped to China

Industrial Heating (www.industrialheating.com) reports that Erie Press Systems (Erie, PA, USA) has shipped a carbon graphite extrusion press to Kaifeng Carbon Co Ltd, the company based in Henan Province in China.

The 3,000 metric ton, four-storey tall press has hydraulic and electric controls designed and built by Erie and an integrated software programme. The press extrudes carbon paste into electrodes that are used to melt steel in electric arc furnaces.

Kaifeng Carbon Co will use the press to produce electrodes used in steel recycling plants. The press is a component in a new plant where more than US$100 million is being invested for electrode production. The system is capable of producing over 60,000 tons of electrodes per year on a continuous basis.
