Elcometer Increases Production Capacity Across Europe

Elcometer Instruments Ltd (Manchester, England) has announced that it has signed a contract of intent with James West Ltd to undertake a 3,240 sq.m. construction project in order to expand its production capacity in Manchester.

The UK facility, which not only manufactures Elcometer's range of coatings inspection equipment but also the range of concrete inspection and metal detection products, is being doubled in size to meet the growth in demand - less than three years after its successful acquisition of three companies across Europe.

"Before we made the decision to buy in Europe, we had plans to expand the Manchester factory by 50%," said Ian Sellars, Managing Director. "Four years on we are now building an extension twice the original size - simply to help satisfy the needs of customers."

Building work has just commenced and Elcometer will move in by the end of 2006.

Elcometer has been in a period of sustained growth for a number of years and, in addition to the UK construction project, plans are being drawn up to build a new production facility in Belgium to manufacture the company's complete range of physical test equipment - due to begin construction within 12 months. Elcometer will also be moving into new, purpose built offices in France before the end of the fiscal year.
