Ceramic lining helps in bauxite handling

The experience demonstrated by Materials Handling Products Ltd (Swadlincote, Derbys, England) in the area of specialist chute linings has led the company to now prove in use its development of a new solution for bauxite handling.

'Abratuff Elastoramic' is an alumina ceramic lining backed with rubber, which can handle materials up to 40mm lump size. The benefits of this design over chromium carbide plate are said to be reduced degradation and noise and the elimination of failure caused by sifted fines abrading the underlying chute.

Installations made over four years ago are now reported to have consistently outlasted hard-faced plate with consequent cost savings on maintenance.
