KEMET Forms New Advanced Technology Group

Ensuring it remains at the forefront of technology, KEMET Corporation (Greenville, SC, USA) has announced the creation of an Advanced Technology Group that will act as an incubator for the identification and proliferation of electronic capacitance technology.

This new department will be led by Dr Philip Lessner, who is being promoted to Chief Technology Officer and Chief Scientist. The Group is staffed with the best and brightest scientists on the KEMET team, including Yuri Freeman, John Prymak and Mike Randall.

"KEMET is committed to being a leader in technology," said Per-Olof Loof, Chief Executive Officer. "Dr Lessner brings 20 years of solid experience to the table, and we have chosen unparalleled talent to back him up. I am looking forward to providing all the support required to help them in these critical roles. The future of our industry will be directed by technology advancements, and KEMET intends to play a significant role in shaping that future."

In addition to developing burgeoning technologies and processes in the industry, the Advanced Technology Group will assist KEMET in evaluating alliances and acquisition prospects, as well as establishing relationships with complementary technology, educational and research institutions.

Lessner is excited about being appointed CTO and Chief Scientist of KEMET Corporation and leading the Advanced Technology Group, and is eager to start implementing programmes.

"The Group is creating a future technology roadmap, if you will," says Lessner. "Our goals are to turn ideas into reality, and then hand them over to the appropriate Business Units or Engineering Groups to deliver state-of-the- art products to our customers."
