ACIMAC Unveils Promotional Activities for 2003

Promotion in foreign markets is one of the most important institutional activities of ACIMAC (the Italian Ceramic Plant & Machinery Manufacturers' Association), given the sector's high percentage of exports, which account for more than two-thirds of its total turnover - 1.033 billion euro out of 1.523 billion euro.

ACIMAC's Promotional Activities Commission, chaired by Fabio Tarozzi (Barbieri & Tarozzi Group), has approved a packed calendar of events for 2003 that aims to promote the association and its member companies in important markets, including India, China, Russia, Brazil, Germany, Vietnam, Iran and Mexico.

The calendar includes participation in seven trade shows during the year: Ceramics & Ceramic Technology (India); Batimat China (Shanghai); Batimat Mosbuild (Moscow); Revestir (Brazil); Ceramics China (Guangzhou); Ceramitec (Munich); and Cersaie (Italy).

ACIMAC will also organise five training courses for ceramic industry technicians. These 3-4 days of lessons with expert tutors offer Italian companies an important opportunity to make direct contact with foreign customers. In 2003, the countries hosting ACIMAC-ICE courses are Brazil, Vietnam, Iran, Russia and Mexico. Since this is the first time that such courses have been held in Russia and Vietnam, those ones are designed to cover the basics of the entire ceramic production process.

Brazil, Iran and Mexico have already hosted these training courses, so advanced courses will be organised to provide in-depth analysis of specific production issues.

All training courses end with a day devoted to the technological symposium, during which Italian technology suppliers can present their recent innovations.

Finally, two market surveys on the ceramic industry - in Egypt and PR China - have been commissioned for 2003. The survey on PR China is an update of the previous survey conducted in 1999, which has become necessary due to the extremely rapid development of the Chinese ceramic industry in recent years.
