Union Process Introduces Mini Laboratory Circulation Attritor

Union Process Inc (Akron, OH, USA), known globally as a manufacturer of particle size reduction and dispersing equipment as well as related services for a broad range of research and industrial applications, has produced a special version of its Q-03 laboratory-sized circulation grinding mill for a customer in the ink market.

To meet the customer's unique requirements, Union Process designed and built a special sized processing tank, a mechanical shaft seal and also a completely explosion-proof system with no air motors, all on a customised frame.

The design of the Q-03 allows for a high circulation pumping rate, which results in narrow particle size distribution and good temperature control.

Like all Circulation Attritors, the Q-03 uses a separate holding tank which is typically 10 times the size of the Attritor grinding tank. During the circulation process, the material makes multiple passes through the grinding chamber until the desired particle size is achieved. Each pass takes only about 20 seconds. This high circulation rate combined with the multiple passes results in faster grind times and a narrower particle size distribution.

The small Q-03 Attritor is ideal for research studies or quality control studies. Where one has limited material, one can process as little as 2.5 litres and still get the advantages of circulation processing.

Union Process is the inventor and developer of Attritor technology and manufactures wet and dry grinding mills as well as small media mills.
