Growth at TOTO - New Plant Announced
Japanese sanitaryware manufacturer TOTO announced that in the first half of its current financial year, product sales in both the USA and PR China had experienced steady growth. The USA saw a 30% rise in sales of ceramic sanitaryware products compared with the same period of the previous year, owing to rising house starts.In Vietnam, the company has launched TOTO Vietnam Co Ltd to meet that country's demand for ceramic sanitaryware. This plant will also supply products to China's Huan Nan Region and to Hong Kong. Production at the new plant is scheduled to start in 2004.
TOTO also announced that it had recently received three more basic patents for its superhydrophilic photocatalyst technologies and it now plans to increase the number of licensees from the current 20 up to 40 by the financial year 2005. It expects from this move to achieve 1 billion yen in revenues from this business.
