Technical Themes Announced for MS&T 2006

Five major themes comprise the technical programme for the 2006 Materials Science & Technology Conference (MS&T '06), scheduled for 15-19 October 2006 in Cincinnati, OH, USA. The technical themes - materials and systems; product manufacturing; processing; fundamentals and characterization; and education and professional development - ensure a comprehensive programme for materials science and engineering technologies.

The diverse programme is the result of the collaboration of four leading materials organisations: the American Ceramic Society; Association for Iron & Steel Technology; ASM International; and Minerals, Metals & Materials Society. Luis Ruiz is a member of the programme coordinating committee and said that MS&T had proven its value to those in the materials field because it was "like attending multiple, interrelated conferences at the same time: a unique occasion to interact with fellow scientists and engineers across the technological landscape, with the opportunity to learn and exchange ideas about a myriad of subjects".

Last year, nearly 3,000 people attended MS&T when it was held in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. This included 140 technical sessions, an exhibition and networking functions.
