Cabot Completes Purchase of Japanese Tantalum JV
Cabot Corporation (Boston, MA, USA) announced on 8 February 2002 that it had completed the purchase of the remaining shares in Showa Cabot Supermetals KK in Japan, from its joint venture partner Showa Denko KK. This transaction was previously announced on 31 January 2002. The purchase price was approximately US$100 million, along with the assumption of approximately US$100 million of debt.Cabot Corp is global speciality chemicals and materials company and its major products are carbon black, fumed silica, inkjet colorants and capacitor materials. Cabot has around 4,200 employees in more than 45 manufacturing plants and offices located in 23 countries around the world.
