Sunrock Ceramics Announces Capacity Expansion

Sunrock Ceramics Company LLC (Broadview, IL, USA), a new high-alumina kiln furniture manufacturer that began operations in early 2006, has announced the start-up of another 1700°C periodic kiln that will provide the throughput needed to meet the growing demand for it products.

This newly commissioned gas kiln is also available for contract firing, along with the company's existing 1700°C electric kilns. These kilns and Sunrock's precision 600-ton press are located in a company-owned 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility just outside of Chicago in Broadview, Illinois.

"The rapid growth in demand that Sunrock is seeing for its kiln furniture from the technical ceramics industry, and the positive reaction from powdered metal parts manufacturers for our alumina pusher plates, has facilitated this investment in additional kiln capacity," said Doug Thurman, President of Sunrock Ceramics.

"Additionally, to ensure we can continue to meet demand growth, we also acquired an identical second gas kiln at the same time so that we are ready to bring even more capacity on line very quickly and economically."
