SILICER Call for Papers


A Call for Papers has been issued for SILICER '03, the 2nd International Congress on Silicate Ceramics. This event, organised by the Deutsche Keramische Gesellschaft (DKG) and sponsored by the American Ceramic Society, will take place in Munich from 14-15 October 2003. It is being held at the same time as the Ceramitec and Materialica exhibitions at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.

The scientific/technical topics of SILICER '03 are:

• Natural Raw Materials and Additives.

• Process and Production Technology.

• Process-Assisting Characterisation.

• Modelling and Simulation.

• Prototyping.

• Innovative Manufacturing Methods and Machinery.

• Glazing and Surface Modification: Materials and Technology.

• Multifunctional Silicate Ceramics.

Also, reports on recently terminated projects on sustainable manufacturing will inform on novel results of a Concerted Research Action on sustainable manufacturing, energy conservation and recycling sponsored by the German Ministry of Research and Technology.

Contributions on country-overlapping topics and problems are in particular welcomed. They may also contain political, economic and legal aspects and future prospects.

For all topics of the conference, applications for both oral and poster presentations have to be submitted by 15 April 2003.

The application forms must contain title and name of authors as well as an abstract of one A4 page maximum. Applicants need to declare whether a poster or oral presentation is aimed at. Oral presentations will last 20 minutes.
