New Factory Boost for SIL

Surface Inspection Ltd, a world leader in the development and supply of automated inspection equipment for ceramic tiles, has moved into a new international headquarters site in Bristol.

Property agents Lipfriend Dawson helped the £7 million turnover business move into a new 20,000 square foot facility in St Philips Central, Albert Road, St Philips, Bristol.

The unit provides offices, research facilities, production and storage in one building for the company and is double the size of SIL's previous Bristol base.

SIL has expanded its staff by three on moving into the new HQ, bringing the number of Bristol-based employees up to 46. Offices in Formigine in Italy and Castellon in Spain - close to the company's markets - employ a further 20 people.

SIL's Financial Director Scott Fisher said: "Since forming in 1987, Surface Inspection has established itself as the world leader in the supply of automated inspection systems for the ceramic tile industry. Equipment built at this new factory in Bristol is currently used by the ceramic industry in 10 countries throughout Europe and North America. It has provided us with room to continue our expansion, which has seen us grow from 15 employees five years ago".
