Down the Runway Waterford Wedgwood Style

Waterford Wedgwood has just featured in the London Fashion Week, the fourth time the group has participated in this event since autumn 2000. In September, the company approached world renowned fashion designers and challenged them to create a homeware or fashion accessory using the famous Wedgwood blue and white Jasper as the theme.

Over 60 designers created unique pieces, which were displayed at London Fashion Week. This February, the group set the same challenge and asked a further 30 fashion designers to create items which were also displayed at London Fashion Week, which ended on 22 February.

Following in the footsteps of designers such as Jasper Conran, Betty Jackson, Arkadius & Markus Lupfer, the designers who rose to the challenge for 2002 included Blaak, Michiko Koshino, MacMillan, Toby Pimlico, Russell Sage, Robert Cary-Williams, Maria Grachvogel and Ronit Zikha.

Waterford Wedgwood now has almost 100 one-off designs which will be auctioned off at a special celebrity gala event later in the year to benefit The Elton John AIDS Foundation. A select number of items will also be available for the public to bid for on-line on the Waterford Wedgwood website throughout May and June.
