Round Table – India's Ceramics Sector Poised for Further Expansion

In November 2008 Messe München International and cfi - ceramic forum international invited participants to the 5th Ceramitec Round Table talks in Mumbai (Maharashtra, India). Representatives from European ceramics technology companies and leading Indian ceramics producers came together at these talks to discuss the latest developments in the markets for heavy clay, tiles, sanitaryware, refractory ceramics and technical ceramics, and the future prospects and challenges in the Indian market.

In India, the market in ceramic materials for the building industry has expanded considerably in recent years. Annual growth in the Indian ceramics industry has been at an average of 12%. Investors from abroad have now also started up business operations in the Indian market, which is helping to raise production standards.
