PMI Announces 2008 Awards for Ceramic & Allied Industry Applicants

The Pottery Mechanics Institute (PMI) Trust Fund has issued its First Call for applications for the 2008 PMI Trust Fund Bursary Awards. This long-running scheme rewards promise, initiative and a range of skills amongst the younger community in the ceramic and allied industries.

The Bursary Awards, open to practitioners in both the academic/research fields and those working in industrial environments, are made after jurying by a panel selected from the PMI Trustees and are currently valued at up to £2,000 each.

They are open to those under the age of 35 conducting their PhD research and project work, or those having their place of employment, in the UK.

Much useful background and full details on eligibility can be found on the PMI website – www.pmitrustfund.org.uk – where the application forms can also be downloaded.

The awards are travel bursaries and after they have been used the winners are invited back to present papers on the extra experience they have gained as a result. These are made at relevant events such as the ICTa Bretby Conference and IoM3 meetings.

The closing date for applications this year is 31 May 2008.
