Palmetto Brick Opts for New Facility

Gale Baker (Richmond County Daily Journal) writes that Palmetto Brick Company will add 20 sales and manufacturing jobs with a US$25 million expansion to its Cheraw headquarters in South Carolina, USA. The expansion will increase residential and commercial brick production from 100 million to 150 million bricks per year using high tech kilns. Production will begin in the 170,000 sq.ft. expansion which is under construction.

The new plant being fitted is mostly being imported from Germany and the new facility will include two separate production buildings - one strictly for manufacturing residential brick and the other for commercial brick. The breakdown is a straight 50/50.

Andy Rogers, President of Sales & Marketing, said: "Once it is up and running, Palmetto Brick will have the highest state-of-the-art brick manufacturing company in the country. At the new factory, the brick will not be touched until the mason puts them into the wall".
