NC Rollers for Tableware Remain in Demand

Julius Lippert GmbH & Co KG (Pressath, Germany) reports that NC roller manufacturing lines for large-sized plates and bowls remain in high demand. Reflecting this trend, the company has supplied three NC roller lines for the European ceramic market and one for the Asian market in just the past three months.

Lippert said that the purchasing motives of these various tableware manufacturers reflect directly on two significant market trends. On the one hand, the production of ever smaller series of varied product types, leading to the creation of product mixes or 'remnant product assortments' for which isostatic pressing is no longer a commercially viable option - here is where the universally applicable and flexible NC roller technology comes in.

Secondly, there is an increasing demand for very large-sized bowls and pasta dishes. For this trend as well, says Lippert, NC roller technology has proven itself as the most economical solution.

The company has also been successful recently in the area of automation for tableware glazing, where the glaze as a quality criterion in tableware is becoming ever more important as price pressures keep mounting, even for high end products. In 2003 alone, Lippert supplied seven dip glazing plants and two spray glazing plants to the tableware industry world-wide.
