New Mogensen Sizer Installed at Denton Brickworks

Mogensen (Grantham, Lincs, England) reports that a new Type S2056 EL Mogensen Sizer has been installed at the Denton Brickworks of thebrickbusiness. One of these machines was originally installed at Denton by Craven Fawcett for J&A Jackson, later to become Salvesen Brick and then Chelwood Brick.

thebrickbusiness, formed by the merger of Chelwood Brick and Ambion Brick, found it necessary to retire the old machine after 23 years of continuous service. Mogensen says that the reliability and screening performance of the original sizer were such that the clear choice for replacement was another Mogensen machine.

The first sizer was installed to handle a feed of 100tph of moist clay and to produce 50tph of minus 3mm material for brick production. Over the course of time, however, experiments to vary the separation size were carried out. As a result, the new unit will be making separations at cut points varying from time to time depending on product requirements and the size analysis of the feed material. These changes will be achieved by changing the mesh combination, said to be a very easy and quick operation in the case of the Mogensen Sizer.

The new sizer is a two-metre, five-deck unit, fully dust proofed and fitted with electric screen-mesh heating on all five decks. It is driven by two Invicta Type BL 50 - 60/60 rotary electric vibrators. Mogensen's supply included the necessary low voltage transformer and the flexible, dust-proof sleeves to connect the machine to static chute-work at the feed inlet and the product outlets.
