Laminam® Presents ‘Thread of a Story’

From 22-27 April 2009, Laminam® will be taking part in the Fuori Salone, the off-site exhibitions held during the Furniture Fair in Milan, with an event in the Museum of Science and Technology exploring the philosophy and unique characteristics of the laminam sheet, an innovative ceramic material in terms of both its technology and aesthetic research.

‘The thread of a story’ looks at an idea that has revolutionised the concept of traditional ceramic, pushing back the frontiers of use in the field of architecture and interior design and delivering application potential that has still to be fully explored. However, it is also the story of a design project and its innovative philosophy.

Laminam® SpA was set up in 2001 in Fiorano Modenese, in the most famous ceramic district in the world, after its founder Franco Stefani conceived the idea of "producing the largest and thinnest ceramic tile ever seen". It takes its name from laminam, a new material with excellent performance and aesthetic characteristics.

Laminam sheets come in large 1000mm x 3000mm sizes with a minimal 3mm thickness and offer enormous scope for use. Their dimensions allow them to meet the increasingly demanding and varied design requirements of the building, furnishing and design sectors.

Combination with other materials opens up great potential for applications in both exteriors and interiors.

Ten years of research and experimentation have spawned the laminam sheet, which established itself as a total innovation in the field of materials as soon as it was launched, largely due to its exceptional technical characteristics.

The event organised by Laminam® in the Museum of Science and Technology during the Milan Furniture Fair explores the uniqueness of the innovative laminam material, its design philosophy and above all the process of research, development and technological innovation that arose from the original idea.
