GranitiFiandre Invests Over €12 Million in New Technology

The year 2009 will see the initial results of a new industrial partnership, established to respond to the fast-changing needs of the ceramic market by providing nothing less than excellence. The collaboration will be between Sacmi and GranitiFiandre.

This partnership forms the basis of a major new order, which will be delivered by Sacmi to GranitiFiandre at the start of 2009 and started up in the Spring.

This latest installation is a complete production line for very large tiles of every possible thickness. At the heart of the system lies a Continua line which will allow the producer to make large porcelain tiles, of any size or thickness, with a customised interior mass. A key element of this plant will be the high tonnage PH 7500 press, currently the most powerful of its kind in the world, says Sacmi.

GranitiFiandre – the first Italian manufacturer to install this type of press – played an active role in designing the plant by providing valuable support for perfection of the line and personalising plant functions according to the specific characteristics of the products the company aims to make.

At the top of the range will be the gigantic 1500mm x 750mm tile, which GranitiFiandre aims to develop further on its own, also in terms of technological content, so as to meet the needs of an ever-more demanding and continuously evolving market.

In any case, maximum efficiency in terms of quality is guaranteed, thanks also to the cutting-edge machines – and starting with the kilns – that make up the complete production line.

The response provided by the partnership between Sacmi and GranitiFiandre is not just reported to be the perfect answer to the latest needs of the ceramic market, which is becoming more and more oriented towards larger tiles requiring special, innovative technological solutions. It also represents an example of how close teamwork between two companies, each leaders in their respective fields (top quality technical porcelain slabs and ceramic manufacturing machines), can produce made-to-measure solutions, the sole purpose of which is to provide higher and higher levels of final customer satisfaction.

GranitiFiandre’s decision constitutes a major technological investment - over €12 million in 2009 - for an Italian ceramic company; it also clearly illustrates how the flexibility and performance provided by the Continua line offer a perfect response to the needs of the current world market.
