Frit Replacement Found

A replacement for the unique calcium borate frit no longer produced in the UK, has been launched by potters supplies company, Potclays. Potclays says it was forced to launch a worldwide search because it used substantial quantities in its own glaze production.

Now the company says that after months of development and tests it has found the answer in America. Potclays now has exclusive rights in the UK for the studio craft market, for what will be known as Ferro Frit 3195. "We always urge customers to test new products before committing them to production, but as an old-established producer of clay bodies, we are confident that this frit will give satisfactory performance," said technical manager, John Beeston.

Potclays also now sell Ferro frits 3110, 3124 and 3134.
