10th International Ceramics Festival Completely Sold Out

Following a huge demand for tickets for the 10th International Ceramics Festival in Wales, the organiser has announced that the full ticket allocation has now been taken up and the festival is sold out. The event takes place from 1-3 July 2005 at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre in Ceredigion, Wales.

Ticket holding ceramicists and potters are travelling to the festival from as far afield as the USA, South Africa, Holland, France, Belgium, Ireland and from all four corners of the UK.

There is also an opportunity for a new generation of ceramicists to gain a platform for their work with the festival's Student Award which is open internationally to students and recent graduates (either individuals or groups) who completed their course up to three years ago.

Applicants for the award have been proposing ceramic-linked projects such as kiln building. The project will take place over the festival weekend and a bursary of £550 will be awarded to the winning entry - the winner will also get the cost of the materials required for their project plus free entry to the festival.

Since the first event back in 1987 the festival, which takes place every other year, has become a mecca for professional potters, teachers, students and ceramic enthusiasts from around the world. Over three intensive days, there is a hectic series of demonstrations, kiln building and spectacular firings, slide shows, films and lectures, exhibitions, trade stands and book stalls. There is also the opportunity to meet fellow potters in a very friendly and sociable atmosphere - and all set overlooking the stunning coastal setting of Aberystwyth in Mid Wales.
