International Conference on Low Cycle Fatigue

A call for papers has been issued for the 5th International Conference on Low Cycle Fatigue, which will be held in Berlin, Germany from 9-11 September 2003. The organising committee supports the presentation of contributions related to metallic, ceramic and polymeric materials.

The event brings together experts in several fields with the common interest in low cycle fatigue, facilitating and encouraging mutual exchange of knowledge and experience. It also provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of recent advances and helps identify research and development needs in the future.

The conference is devoted both to basic research and engineering applications of low cycle fatigue. A special emphasis lies in the design, manufacturing and operation of equipments and structures.

Invited lectures and oral contributions will be arranged in thematic sessions - as far as possible without parallel sessions. The poster sessions will be an important element to promote the discussions. In addition to the normal poster contributions, all the oral presentations will also be shown in the form of posters.

Papers on all aspects concerning the behaviour of materials under low cycle fatigue conditions are welcome.

The thematic sessions are intended to be arranged according to the following topics:

• Isothermal low cycle fatigue
• Interaction between creep, LCF and HCF
• Thermal and thermo-mechanical fatigue
• Multiaxial loading
• Microstructural aspects
• Influence of environmental conditions
• Surface modification technologies; coatings
• Advanced materials
• Damage evolution
• Crack initiation, crack growth
• Constitutive equations; modelling
• Design methods; life prediction
• Case studies; practical experience
• Experimental aspects
