Energy Management Seminar - Kiln & Burner Control

Free Seminar in conjunction with Action Energy and the British Ceramic Confederation to be held at CERAM Research in Penkhull, Stoke-on-Trent on Thursday 4th March 2004.

10:30 – 11:00 Registration and coffee.

11:00 – 11:10 Introduction Dave Beardsworth, BCC.

11:10 – 11:40 Kiln Audits – An Overview by Ian Campbell, CERAM - The results of a kiln audit provide a benchmark of operating conditions, which can be used as the basis for a program of optimisation. Parameters of concern are yield and energy consumption. The review will cover kiln atmosphere, control and combustion systems and burner calibration.

11:40 - 12:30 Advances in Temperature Control by Jim Tebbs, Eurotherm - A presentation on new techniques in kiln and furnace management, looking at advances in control.

12:30 – 1:15 Lunch.

1:15 – 2:15 Kiln Control for the Ceramics Industry by Simon Diliberto, Drayton Beaumont - A review of modern control systems for all types of kilns in ceramic manufacture and how these are applied.

2:15 – 2:45 Tunnel Kiln Simulator and Thermal Modeling by Simon George, CERAM - Thermal modeling may be used to optimise high temperature operations. The tunnel kiln simulator is one area where existing systems may be optimised. The simulator is reviewed with other aspects of CERAM’s modeling facilities.

2:45 – 3:15 Questions and Close.
