Tile Factory at Elayapattuwa Revived
The Daily Mirror in Colombo reports that the state-owned Ceylon Ceramic Corporation's Elayapattuwa tile factory in the Anuradhapura District of Sri Lanka was recently reopened by Minister of Enterprise Development, Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, Professor G L Peris.This factory, which was burnt down in 1988/89, was restored by the government after a period of complete closure.
The Ministry said that the Ceylon Ceramic Corporation looked forward to good sales of its tile produce on the back of anticipated high demand for tiles and bricks with the ongoing rehabilitation and restructuring activities in the North and East of the country having been made possible as a result of the peace process.
