Cevisama Delivers Results Beyond Expectations

The most frequently voiced opinion of the 27th edition of CEVISAMA, which has just closed its doors on the 2009 event, was that it had performed better than expected. Exhibitors, buyers and specifiers expressed satisfaction with the show and a sense of encouragement, depending on their particular area of interest, especially in relation to the outlook as it was when the show opened.

Provisional figures indicate that the numbers of foreign and domestic visitors declined by around 16% and 18.5% respectively. There was, on the other hand, a significant recovery in the number of buyers from Arab countries, to the extent that a mosque had to be set up for prayers.

Specifiers were very positive about this year's CEVISAMA, highlighting that they had never before seen so many new designs and applications.

Exhibitors' opinions of the fair were very varied but most agreed that it had been better than they had expected. Some, such as the company that won an Alfa de Oro Award, described the results as spectacular and were very satisfied with both the number and the quality of visitors.

Other companies rated the fair highly too. Some manufacturers of tiles specially designed for architectural applications were visited by significant numbers of international buyers, particularly from Germany. Others, that manufacture exclusive products tightly targeted at the luxury decor segment of the market, claimed that the Asian marketplace has been performing more than satisfactorily.

CEVISAMA director Beatriz Urbón made a point of underscoring the considerable effort invested by the companies that exhibited at this year's fair in terms of both their actual presence at the show and the number of new products and applications they launched. "We are very grateful," she said, "for the confidence they have placed in us and for the efforts they have made. They have shown themselves to be true champions and some put up their best stands ever as exhibitors at our show."

In conclusion, Beatriz Urbón gave her heartfelt thanks to the companies, which had so clearly placed their faith in CEVISAMA at this time "because they feel that this is their fair and they made it an absolute priority to support this year's edition".
