Morgan Crucible Strategy Meeting Held at Thermal Ceramics Casalpusterlengo Plant

In January, the Thermal Ceramics Casalpusterlengo site played host to the 2008 Morgan Strategy meeting, welcoming the Morgan Crucible senior management team, as well as the divisional senior management teams from Europe. The Morgan Crucible Divisions included representatives from Molten Metal Systems, Carbon, Technical Ceramics and of course Thermal Ceramics.

Following a well prepared welcome and lunch, an organised tour of the Insulating Fire Brick (IFB) and Castables production facility in Casal, led by Ermanno Magni and his team of personnel from the operations team, took place.

Mark Robertshaw, CEO for Morgan Crucible, outlined the Group’s performance for 2007 and the exciting challenges for the years ahead. Chairman Tim Stevenson provided food for thought on the role of the board and the Chairman and how they were actively involved in the growth of the business.

Tim Hayter presented an overview of the Thermal Ceramics performance over the last few years and highlighted expectations for 2008 and the company’s vision to be the world’s leading advanced insulation company.

Ian Robb provided an overview of the European performance in 2007 and the challenges ahead for 2008. A special presentation was made on behalf of Casal’s main IFB product line to Stefano Viletti of Ciria. Over the last 40 years the company has produced over 500 million IFBs and Ciria has been one of the longest and best customers. A typical JM23 brick was plated in Silver and presented to Mr Viletti with special gratitude and thanks.

Over the two-day event, the remaining divisions provided presentations and updates on their business expectations for 2008 and beyond. In this year’s sessions, break-out sessions were used to allow for open discussions on specific subjects. Integrating different divisional attendees into groups whereby mutual experiences, best practices and proposals for recommending tactical actions and motivation strategies were shared and then presented to the group.
