Lamina Ceramics Launches 'Warm White'

Lamina Ceramics Inc (Westhampton, NJ, USA) has announced the launch of a new super bright, high power LED light engine featuring a warm, eye-pleasing light quality similar to popular halogen and tungsten incandescent lamps. The BL-4000 Warm White with its 3000°K colour temperature is the latest addition to the company's internationally award-winning product line.

Said to be more than three times brighter than any other commercially available warm white LED array, the BL-4000 Warm White delivers 95 lumens - nearly as much as a 100W halogen bulb - while consuming only 5.3W of electricity. Its usable lifetime (rated at 50% of original brightness) is three to four times longer than the longest living halogen. It is smaller than a US nickel coin, as are the RGB+ (red-green-blue) and cool white models in Lamina's BL-4000 series.

Lamina's LED light engines are manufactured by combining high brightness LEDs from industry-leading manufacturers with Lamina's proprietary packaging technology; multi-layer, low temperature co-fired ceramic-on-metal (LTCC-M). The company says that LTCC-M is a breakthrough in thermal performance for LED packaging technology, a key factor in determining LED life and reliability. Lamina's technology was 12 years in development by Sarnoff Corporation.
