Sacmi's Long-Standing Partnership with Kale Group Continues
In 2007 Kale celebrated 50 years of activity in the ceramic industry: founded – and still guided today – by Turkish entrepreneur Dr Ibrahim Bodur, the Kale Group now consists of 25 companies and generates total annual sales in the order of US$850 million. This constant development has progressed parallel with Turkey’s own industrialisation and has, in recent years, benefited from an ongoing industrial partnership with Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy).The latest Kale investment is a new floor and wall tile production plant, inaugurated last June in Yozgat-Yerkoy, in Central Anatolia, some way from the company’s historic base, located at Çan. For this new plant – which guarantees a daily output of 12,000 square metres – Bodur decided to entrust Sacmi with the task of supplying the continuous grinding equipment. Among the machines supplied by Sacmi is a new MTC070 continuous mill, capable of grinding up to 15.7 tons of dry material every hour.
Also recently tested was a new, entirely Sacmi-supplied glazed floor tile production plant: this was started up in the town of Çan, the Kalebodur Seramik Factory’s traditional base, and includes three high-tonnage PH3800 presses, which feature six cavities for 33cm x 33cm tiles and an inter-column clearance of 2450mm. Sacmi also supplied vertical dryers from the EVA984 series and a fixed-box storage system designed by Sacmi to meet Kale’s specific production requirements.
The plant’s jewel in the crown is the kiln, an all-new twin-channel 130.2-metre long, 2850mm wide FBP model, which is preceded by a 12.6-metre JBP dryer. This is the first machine of its kind to be built by Sacmi Forni and has been fully redesigned in terms of both practicality and even style.
Exhibited for the first time at Tecnargilla 2006, the FBP kiln has allowed Sacmi to achieve the same levels of excellence already demonstrated in the production of single-layer kilns. One of its key features is a combustion chamber specially sized to allow recovery of heat from the cooling zone.
