UK Refractory Products Market Development Report

Market & Business Development Ltd (Manchester, England) has published its latest 'UK Refractory Products Market Development Report' which includes the following major conclusions:

Market review 2001-2005 shows demand for refractory products has increased in each year since 2001, although growth levels have moderated over the review period. Indeed, in 2005 only a marginal increase is projected to take the market to £400.6 million. This is in contrast to stronger growth of 8% recorded in 2001 and 2002. The slowdown in growth towards the end of the period partly reflects the more uncertain economic conditions.

Forecast 2006-2010 says the market is expected to demonstrate real term growth during this period with the exception of a 1% decline in 2006, partly reflecting the current economic slowdown. Subsequently, the refractory product market is expected to increase by 1% during each year between 2008 and 2010, with the market reaching an estimated £409.9 million (at 2005 prices) in 2010.

The market for refractory products is likely to be influenced by a number of trends which have already affected the market development. Monolithic products are expected to further gain market share at the expense of the traditional bricks. Furthermore, in terms of volume, the market is expected to continue to decline as research into raw materials and product design will produce increasingly durable and lightweight refractory products.

The report costs £550 and further details on it - and others from MBD - can be found on the website.
