Rak Ceramics Opens New Plant in India

Rak Ceramics, a global-level giant of the ceramics industry based in the United Arab Emirates, has set up a new plant in India. The factory is located in the industrial district of Samalkot, in the province of Andhra Pradesh in southern India.

There are two production lines, both designed and built in close collaboration with Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy). The first line has a daily output of 20,0000 sq.m.of technical porcelain and glazed tiles while the second has an annual output capacity of 200,000 pieces of sanitaryware.

The sanitaryware line was completed in record time and started up at the end of August. This result was made possible by the experience of Rak’s technicians – who were trained at the parent company in the United Arab Emirates – and the reliability of the plants themselves, which feature pressure casting technology and the latest generation of shuttle kilns.

The choices made at the design stage were very much future-oriented: the plants are already set up to allow for a doubling of output and the entire production process can, when required, be rendered fully automatic.
