RAK Ceramics Commissions 10th Plant

RAK Ceramics, the leading manufacturer of ceramic tiles and sanitaryware based in Ras Al Khaimah (United Arab Emirates), has commissioned its 10th plant at its giant manufacturing complex. This is the second new plant to be commissioned during 2002, the first having been in January for the production of small tiles in 10cm x 10cm and 15cm by 15cm format.

Commenting on the latest plant addition, General Manager Dr Khater Massaad said: "This new plant will have a capacity of 30,000 square metres of ceramic wall and floor tiles per day in sizes of 20cm x 30cm, 25cm x 33cm, 25cm x 40cm, 33cm x 33cm, 40cm x 40cm and 50cm x 50cm. It will also have four presses, two kilns and some cutting edge technologies that will make this plant a sophisticated ceramic plant".

On the international front the company - which already has manufacturing plants in Bangladesh and Slovakia - is well on its way to commissioning a sophisticated gres porcellanato plant in PR China early next year, for which the civil works have already started.

This plant will have a production capacity of 15,000 square metres per day of 40cm x 40cm, 60cm x 60cm, 60cm x 120cm and 100cm x 100cm format tiles. RAK says that advanced technologies such as Easy Oxide Mixing, Roll Feed, MDR, Double Charge and Dual Charge will make this factory one of the most advanced gres porcellanato factories in the world. The 156 metre-long kilns due to be installed as part of this project will be the longest of their type in the world.
