Porcelain Masterclass for January 2006
From 26-28 January 2006, a masterclass under the supervision of Piet Stockmans will take place at the European Ceramic Work Centre (EKWC) in 's-Hertogenbosch, Holland. The theme will be 'Porcelain'.
Piet Stockmans wants to engage participants of the masterclass to explore porcelain, starting from a design task brought in by the participant. During the masterclass, Piet will serve as what EKWC calls 'inspirator and coach'. Technical support will be given by the supervisors at the centre.
Piet Stockmans worked from 1966 to 1989 as a designer at Royal Mosa BV in Maastricht, Holland and during this period (and for 10 years afterwards) worked as a Professor of Industrial Design at a college. From 1983 to 1985 he also worked as a Professor of Ceramics Design at the Academy of Industrial Design. Since 1989, he has operated as a freelancer.
For the course, each participant will need to write a motivation piece to show that they are interested in ceramics and wish to integrate ceramics into their own field of expertise. The closing dates for applications is 7 January 2006.
