Yageo Launches 2012 LTCC Balanced BPF

Yageo Corporation (Hsin Tien, Taipei, Taiwan) has announced the launch of 2012 LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) Balanced band pass filter (BPF) catering to the increasingly demanding RF applications. Complementing Yageo's existing RF total solution comprising antenna, filter and balanced-to-unbalanced (balun) transformer, the 2012 Balanced BPF features low insertion loss below 3.0 dB, amplitude loss of 1.0 dB and superior balun circuit device crucial to addressing the customised requirements of leading Bluetooth chipsets.

Yageo's 2012 Balanced BPF, combining band pass filter and balun transformer, is produced by LTCC processing technology and Low-K value material technology developed in-house and is applicable for 2400~2500 MHz band. The miniaturised balanced filter in the 2012 ultra-small package enhances Bluetooth module performance for handset device application.

Alan Lee, Yageo's Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing, said: "We are pleased to see our customers moving up their requirements for Bluetooth applications and peripherals. In-Stat research shows global Bluetooth chips shipment is expected to reach 69 millions in 2006. The launch of Yageo's 2012 Balance BPF will further strengthen our presence in the RF market. With the complete customer service from front-end circuit co-design to the collaboration on product development, Yageo is the best partner to RF application customers".

Chip type balun transformer and BPF made by LTCC processing technology are key components in the RF front-end circuit for wireless local area network (WLAN) and Bluetooth applications. LTCC has been used widely by Yageo on various applications for years, especially on total antenna solutions propelled by the increasing market demand for miniaturisation which accelerates the integration of passive components. Compared to the discrete circuit design, 2012 Balanced BPF brings the advantage of high integration and miniaturisation. Yageo says it is looking to expand its WLAN application in smart phones in the foreseeable future.
